When surprise guests show up at your doorstep after dark (coming from Olso, New York & Boulder) you answer. And you make some new friends. Weve found some kindred spirits and new in @amundsensports Excerpt from Jens Christian Lvenskiold & Henry Hunts adventure journal story:(Full story in their site) After a few hours drive deep into the Wisconsin woods, we arrived at the mysterious camp after dark and were greeted by camp warden, who welcomed us into Wandawegas main lodge with a crackling fire. After only a few moments on site, we realized we had stumbled into perhaps the most beautifully curated destination we had ever laid eyes on. We had stepped into a lodge turned- summer camp from the 1920s (its original function), with every detail down to matchboxes and marbles indicative of an era wed never known. As quickly as you could imagine, the three of us reverted into our childhood selves running from room to room, calling out to one another about the treasures wed discovered. We were immediately filled with the curiosity, enthusiasm, and imagination that is so potent during childhood sensations which, if not fostered, become ever more elusive. You have got to be kidding me. One day cant do this place justice, were coming back! With every door opened and corner turned, we were inundated with the marvels of a simpler time. We became consumed with a feeling of nostalgia, nostalgia for an era we hadnt lived yet, it was strangely familiar to us. Though none of us were born within a stones throw of the period that Wandawega represents, the simple pleasures of adventure and play endure across the decades. With visions of summer days spent tying sailing knots and angling flies, to collecting arrowheads and turtle shells; the oft-forgotten joys of a simpler time filled us with nostalgia for days wed not known since childhood.

FOUND! These walls have a lot to say.A local friend and neighbor Dan sent us a note I think this is your cabin? My wife went to camp at Camp Potawatomi Hills back in the 60s. He sent this photo (scroll) of her as a girl standing in front of it. It looked familiar – Just to be sure, we counted the logs – sure enough – that was it. (We added a few more rows since we moved her and jacked it up)This little cabin has one of our favorite features – the carved, scrawled stories scarring the walls – stories of decades of Girl Scouts leaving their mark…Last shot: some of the crew who prepped the cabins for their move from Pleasant Lake to Wandawega – so grateful.
Spotted in the wild: The elusive Urban Cowboy FarmerHAPPY BIRTHDAY to the man who orchestrates the chaos that is our life. May your day be as delightfully absurd as your Shorts+boots+Stetson (fashion trifecta for tilling soil)Like our gardens, you grow greener & unruly in the best way. Cheers to my Garden Gigolo for making our lives blossom despite the occasional manure.Heres to embracing the harvest & to another year of cultivating the things we love (and maybe a few vegetables ?)*Disclaimer (since hes gonna kill me for posting this) Not a selfie – I ambushed him with a disposable camera when we first started rehabbing, and were confronted with having to dig ourselves out of gardens buried in 30 years of neglect.Just engaged, naive and overwhelmed with new 25 acre dilapidated camp.We wanted to grow something. We didnt know what or how.We just started digging.Still are.- dont know what well find next, but theres nobody else Id rather dig with.HBD my #HortiHunk #CowboyCultivator

Popped into the mens show at the Chicago mart yesterday to meet with our friends at @amundsensports (first pic here from their stay & shoot with us last week. *more soon on what they did, saw & made)At the show, we ran into folks from so many other brands that weve hosted at camp, worked or collaborated with @filson1897 @thenormalbrand @Shinola @pendletonwm @GhurkaMost folks we meet here on this feed dont know that a big chunk of our business comes from hosting brands for their shoots, films and branding production – from @bestmadeco, @duluthtradingcompany , @Abercrombie @landsend @gant @PenfieldUSA, @ridebontrager, @florsheimshoes @notre & more. (and then a whole separate stream- for company retreats for the likes of @patagonia, @lululemon & too many others to count)Weve been working with menswear brands in different ways for years.. So were over the moon to get to collaborate with another menswear brand that we nerd out over (co-creating a line that may be our favorite yet- to be announced later this summer)Hint: American Made. For men. Stay tuned.
Were knee deep in our next little project (of a million and counting )The old potato cellar (its use in the 70s when David was a kid coming- here.. a dirt floor crawl space ) Since weve been here – its just has been a basement catch all for overflow equipment. Its about to be the CW JANITOR SUPPLY Weve found so many things from a century ago – from booze bottles to roller shades and tobacco tins. Were filling this new custodial den with all of our favorite things – it will be the most manically Organized space at camp- spring cleaning every little neglected corner here long overdue. *a little BTS of our design planning boards. open to obscure brands & old school products and gear to outfit this space
