Whats going on in these pictures?(Weve made up so many possible captions)Weve been going through the stacks of old photos that were surprise gifted to us a few weeks ago and found these little gems in the mix. We love them even though we have no idea of whats happening in most of them.Also got a beautiful stack of VHS tape clips. some super 8 footage (transferred to a DVD) of priests fishing off the dock in full church garb. its a treasure trove of Wandawega in its hey day of Hamms drinking- Neil Diamond 8-track Jamming – hot station wagon road trips. The best things dont change.

Camp Shuffleboard 1963-2024Our first camp court was built in the 60s (scroll to see Davids parents Herb & anna breaking it in).After too many cracks to salvage it another year, we figured it was about time to pour a new one, so we called in our friend Ches from @rightwaysigns to help christen it, with our mascot (George the racoon). We love being the backdrop for love stories.Yesterday morning,our friend Melissa was finding all the corners to freeze the tiny details before guests arrive- as tables are being set, campfires being built, & coolers are stocked.20 years ago we got married at camp. At the time, it was the first wedding held here in 80 years. It rained all day – We heard that was lucky (a wet knot is harder to untie).Last night, after a beautiful wedding when vows were said and guests migrated to the tent in the field, the downpour hit. Our newly seeded fields needed it. It was nice after a hot July day. Well take it as a good omen that Lars & Caroline will also remain inseparable. .Light seeker :@melissamariephoto

MAGPIE: meaning :One that gathers to build something..5 things gathered on a quick trip to New Mexico a couple weeks ago :A few bits of inspiration I found, picked & brought back to camp for future projects (too many to list)A centerpiece find not shown here- but coming soon :a 15 x 15 ft hand knitted 1920s rug unearthed at a roadside stand resale shop 1. All the Vintage Signage of Taos 2. Stone chimneys & hand painted green house trim 3. Hand made 1930s Birdhouse village on poles 4. The tiniest shops in the tiniest Pueblo homes 5. Exploring a favorite shop & discovering the Camp Wandawega @crowcanyonhome enamelware line on display @mrsjoey8 planned this trip for us her birthday (& summarizes it WAY better than i can) :Picnic at Los Poblanos lavender farm, Santa Fe Vintage visit, sleeping at Many Feathers Ranch, horse riding around Georgia OKeeffes Ghost Ranch, massages at Ojo Caliente natural hot springs, touring Taos Pueblo, learning about Mabel Dodge Logan and her salons with the creative powerhouses of the 40s, a secret exhibit of DH Lawrences salacious artwork, hiking Rio Grande Gorge and marveling at Earth ship architecture.Camp inspiration from the southwest- with @lori_seidemann & @nicolemarietoalson – HBD Joey!

That time @insta.flamm whipped up an insane meal with his team in our old beat up kitchen& on the campfire.People with passion and talent can make magic anywhere – even at a century old summercamp.Thanks @_lyndonfrench_ for capturing this night.We love hosting friends who are creative and creatives that are friends.We are damn grateful to have some dear ones coming back again for the another @stockmfgco event this season – the insanely talented @juanmanjuan at the helm again bringing in @mindysegal and too many to list

Meet our nightwatch dog, SCOUTShe does not listen.Never warns us of danger Is only committed to protecting her food bowl.But she works the night shift making her rounds with endless enthusiasm.Her predecessor Frankie held this post for 15 years,Taught her the ropes in the 3months they overlappedHe left his station on July 9, 2023 after a lifetime of selfless duty.(Last shot was his favorite spot to stand guard & chase away the dangerous chipmunks & keep the raccoons from raising the smores station) On some nights, when the lake & campers are finally still,we swear we still see him making his rounds I think Scout sees him, too- (maybe thats why a cabin could be on fire and shes off obliviously rolling in the grass on the other side of the grounds)She knows that hell never leave his watch.
