FOUND: in a 1937 cookbook…

this came from our friend Deb & Julie (passed down 4 generations) the ‘never fail’ pie crust’ cane from the FULL OF FLAVOR Cookbook which reads: “Recipes of FULL OF FLAVOR have been contributed by members and friends of the Oak Park and River Forest Infant Welfare Society, 1937.” *thanks will golden for the shots!  (this pie was entered this pie in Younker’s Pie Baking Contest and it was refused on the basis that it was questionable to cook– which i find halarious since the ELEGANT FARMER bag-baked pies have been voted #1 by the Wallstreet journal.) PAPER BAG APPLE PIE…

TO POST OR NOT TO POST?

i’ve been debating this… sappy. corny. sentimental. um…yeah, but– this makes me so ridiculously happy that i couldn’t NOT share it. a subject that 99% of the universe does not care about. (….this is for the 1%) here’s a little piece of our favorite subject. happy fathers day to everyone who has their own little ‘charlie’ DISCLAIMERS: * she’s not really drinking that beer. promise. * Id love to take credit, but erik law is completely responsible for this video (thus, the chugging shot) * if you appear in this video, thank you for letting me exploit your lovely face….

FOUR GENERATIONS OF STORIES (around her wrist)

my friend becky was camp counseling a few weeks ago, and had these dangling from her arm. (gotta love a girl who rocks multiple gold bracelets while canoeing) i love that charm bracelets tell a story. each charm marking a monumental moment. Becky was wearing her mother’s and her grandmothers. She also has her own, and her daughter Lilly will be the fairest of them all when one day she gets to wear LIFE-EVENT-MARKING MEMENTOS OF FOUR GENERATIONS. some of my favorite stories on Becky’s wrist… * profile silhouette her brother as a baby- in gold die cut * sorority…

BOOM.

i love these places….This week i got to play with fire in a sandy field in New York with some folks that do as their livelihood.A place called Grucci’s Fireworks. These guys  have pulled off everything from Presidential inaugurations to MOMA to Lady Liberty’s 100th birthday, & is considered the ‘first family of fireworks’ in the US. But the cool part is their story. The founder, Angelo Lanzetta and great great-grandfather to Felix Grucci, Sr., started it all in 1850 in southern Italy before coming to Elmont, Long Island via Ellis Island. After Angelo’s death in 1899, his son, Anthony carried on the…
