my entry for chicago home & garden CHAIRS FOR CHARITY

this was a super fun project. so happy to have been invited…. tried to find a wandawega-esque theme, so i started with  an antique chesterfield wingback chair. (imported from france, 1950’s era) then i had the thing trucked up from alabama (it came in on a crate).   name:“THE HEARTH CHAIR” materials used:IMPORTED 1950’S LEATHER WINGBACK HEARTH CHAIR. it rained on our wedding day.

DISCOVERED: 1950’s vacation footage of wandawega

years ago, the Chicago Tribune did a story on Camp Wandawega, and soon after, folks starting coming out of the woodwork to tell us stories of visits to our little camp in their youth… one such gentleman came to visit and came bearing some old super 8 film- check it out here another family brought us stacks of old photographs… their grandparents took over the place in the 40’s, then their parents owned it in the 50’s… before it was finally sold to the catholic church (the latvia marion fathers)- who turned it into the summercamp that david attended. here…

a fall weekend at wandawega (photoshoot)

the amazing BOB COSCARELLI came to camp last weekend and shot a series for my CHAIRS FOR CHARITY entry. without giving the chair away (its a surprise!) here are some behind-the-scenes of us playing around in the leaves shooting.  (all but the tabletop shot, which was my inspiration collage at home while designing the chair- and this top shot of BOB on site was shot by our new friend SAMER)

AFI print campaign shot at Camp Wandawega

One of the clients i work on here at the day job is AMERICAN FAMILY INSURANCE. We just wrapped a shoot that took us all over the US, to produce a print campaign for AFI. A good chunk of the images were captured at Camp Wandawega. Here are a few outtakes from the shoot, and a couple of the ads produced for the campaign. We shot this video of the photorapher  SANDRO  talking about the campaign- and what this campaign means to him.

fashion shoot at camp wandawega

holy god. i prayed for every model, grip, photographer, stylist and crew member on this shoot. while i was working in london this past summer, a team of 40+ folks decended on wandawega for a holiday shoot this past summer. they turned it into a fall season… folks in scarves in 90 degrees! and then it was winter- garland, christmas trees and cold weather gear. i am amazed that they were able to capture such great shots in that record-breaking heat.
