19 years ago today we decided it might be fun to get married at this old near-abandoned campground wed just bought.Since ours was the first wedding held here since it was built in 1925- it was anything BUT a legit venue for hosting the 250 friends & family who showed up that day.We barely had enough saved to pay the caterer. The place was falling down around us. It rained from morning to night.and it was the best day ever.Weve spent every year since celebrating that day – by re-committing to preserving this joint for other guests, and those that tie the knot in the same spot we did. In what seems like a lifetime ago. (I guess it was since weve been together for 26 years) Looking forward to the next 26- as we hit this milestone and are making our new plans for what we want to do next. Its got us feeling like those same kids again. We are taking leaps here and together I said it on this day last year- and will every year.To the best man Ive ever know, love you till forever

Our fridge in the bunk houseIs not always stocked like this for long (It never last from one guest to the next)Summertime, were not over just yet. (This just popped up and reminded us)What they say:Hamms Beer teamed up to create a line of retro merch that harkens back to the ’50s and ’60s. There’s work shirts, beach towels, koozies, coasters, inner tubes and floaties- This collection is a nod to those pieces found in your grandparents’ attic “At camp, everywhere you go is like stepping back in time to when Hamm’s was one of the largest breweries in the nation. We focused on what we could have found at camp nearly 60 years ago.”*Muse by Clio- a little insider baseball since 99.9% of folks dont know what the Clios are – (they cover creativity in ad world)

We have been fans of @cabinlove forever and ever – it was such joy to have them here. We love when our campers show up and take it all in. Cooking outdoors. Hiking. Foraging. Boating all the things.

QUESTION:We just got asked in an episode coming out soonWhats the part you enjoy most about running a camp?ANSWER:Anybody who runs a small business will tell you that its about getting to try anything. You get to treat it like a creative lab. A place where you make things with interesting people who make cool shit. Wandawega is an experimental place where it doesnt matter if things we try fail. Because its just about making things & having fun in the process. A recent example was working with a handful of folks who came out of the woodwork to participate in a couple of programs weve been fostering: Artist in residence content creators program :@prezpipe @nathanbobey @erikengstromphoto They worked on their own creative projects and also threw down on one of ours: the launch of SummerOfHamms.com ….@hammsthebeer hammsthebeer

Is This Wisconsin Resort the Real Land of Sky Blue Waters? a new feature by @milwaukeemag just out about our SummerOfHamms.com collab lline with @hammsthebeer Camp Wandawega and Hamms team up for the retro-themed rebrand of the classic Midwestern beer.Hamms x Camp Wandawega Summer of 66 collection featuring items like beer accessories, apparel and lake essentials, all influenced by the 1950s and 1960s launched in late July on the Hamms website. If it felt like it could have lived here (then), it became part of the collection, says Surratt.Turns out the beer brand had a story there all along: Holland found a photo taken in the 1970s of a Hamms beer can in a cabinet at Camp Wandawega. And he happened to have vacationed at Camp Wandawega before working at Hamms on his guest towel was a Hamms matchbook, in fact. But first he had to convince Surratt. He wrote a letter to her a proposal pitch, if you will on a 1930s typewriter, stating why he felt the beer brands Land of Sky Blue Waters slogan was a perfect fit with Camp Wandawegas camp-y vibe. Thanks @kristineahansen for the story !
